Cloak & Dice

Decide. Roll. Survive.

Rome, 1962. A trail leads to Venice, where an informant waits with explosive evidence of secret arms deals. You have 48 hours. But your enemies are already one step ahead.

The game

Cloak & Dice is a spy adventure in the tradition of the classic gamebooks, played on painted pages. Look around Rome and Venice in ink and watercolour, talk your way past clerks and conductors, use what you carry, and when words run out, roll the dice.

Three agents

The Soldier hits first and misses nothing, but lies badly. The Engineer opens locks and finds microphones. The Actor charms and bluffs through doors the others have to force. Each finds other ways through the same mission.

Dice you shake

Two six-sided dice decide what skill alone cannot. Shake to roll. SKILL, STAMINA and LUCK are the old gamebook numbers, and the checks are hidden: you know which skill is tested, never how hard.

Every check has a way on

A failed roll closes a door, never the story. There is always another way: another skill, an item, a fight. At the end, the mission report draws your route on a paper map of Venice.

The first campaign is free and complete: three acts, from the embassy in Rome by the afternoon express to Venice, a count's palazzo by night and the Riva at dawn. More campaigns will follow.
